Be a part of the team that provides affordable housing opportunities to New Mexicans statewide. New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) has an opening for an Assistant Controller. This position is general ledger accounting through financial statement preparation for MFA programs or functions. This includes: establishing new accounting books; reviewing the reconciliation of cash and investments; projecting and tracking of cash available for General Fund operations and bond debt service and redemption; acquiring working knowledge of the general bond resolutions; preparation of journal entries and reports as required; analysis of financial statements and other financial data and review of annual budget and support of annual audit. Manage daily accounting operations and supervise staff.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and five years’ experience working with multiple set of books, preferably in public accounting or in banking, mortgage banking or the mortgage servicing industry. Three years supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: CPA must be obtained within four years from hire. Strong knowledge of accounting theory, fund accounting, and generally accepted accounting principles, working knowledge of General Ledger accounting and reporting, must possess strong analytical skills, ability to multi-task, dependable self-starter, ability to supervise.
