ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Housing New Mexico has opened the wait list for HOME Rehabilitation Program services in the eight counties it directly serves through its Home Improvement Program. The Home Improvement Program provides financial assistance to income‑eligible homeowners who need critical home rehabilitation.

Residents in Guadalupe, Harding, Los Alamos, McKinley, Quay, Rio Arriba, San Juan and Union

Counties may apply to the Home Improvement Program directly through Housing New Mexico.

Homeowner‑occupied residences are eligible for the Home Improvement Program, and the household income must be at or below 80% of Area Median Income, which varies by county.

Key repairs covered include:

  • Code compliance requirements
  • Health and safety issues and substandard conditions
  • Structural requirements
  • Sanitation requirements
  • Mechanical system(s) requirements
  • Safety requirements
  • Resource efficiency and Healthy Homes Standards

“All New Mexicans deserve a safe, healthy home, and this program allows us to expand our reach and provide services to even more eligible residents with homes in need of critical rehabilitation,” said Housing New Mexico Chief Housing Officer Donna Maestas-De Vries. “Without rehabilitation service providers in every county, we saw a need and addressed that need, and now we are able to help New Mexicans in every county.”

The Home Improvement Program application period will remain open until further notice. Clients’ homes will be serviced on a first‑come, first‑served basis. For more information, please visit the Housing New Mexico website or apply directly at https://portal.neighborlysoftware.com/NEWMEXICOMFA/Participant. If a paper application is needed, please call 505-843-6800.

In addition to the eight counties served directly by Housing New Mexico, HOME Rehabilitation Program services are offered in other parts of the state by various service providers, which may be found on the Housing New Mexico website.
