HOME Rehabilitation Program

Program Assistance

Qualified homeowners  receive rehabilitation assistance in the form of a zero percent (0%) interest, deferred payment forgivable loan.  After the completion of the rehabilitation, homeowner must maintain ownership for a period up to15 years and is subject to recapture provisions.

Eligibility Requirements

General eligibility requires that:

1. Household income must not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income adjusted for location and household size. You can view the HOME Income Limits PDF to see if you qualify.
2. The home must be owned and occupied by the applicant and be their primary residence.
3. The after-rehab value of the home to be rehabilitated must fall within program guidelines. You can find the home value limit for your area of the state here: Rehabilitation Program Home Value Limits
4. The homeowner must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
5. Home’s located within a flood plain are not eligible for this program

Required Document

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application. A complete list and examples of acceptable documents are available in the Required Documents Checklist.

• Proof of income for all household members 
• Proof of assets for all household members 
• Proof of homeownership
• Proof of residency
• Proof of citizenship or eligible residency status
• Photo ID for all household members age 18 or older

How to Apply

Housing New Mexico currently partners with seven (7) organizations to provide rehabilitation services in designated areas across the state. To apply:

1. Review the service area map below to determine which organization is servicing your area.
2. Contact the organization that services your area directly.
