ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Housing New Mexico, in partnership with the State of New Mexico, has launched the Statewide Landlord Incentive Program in an effort to increase the number of safe, adequate voucher-supported rental units in the state.

The program is available to landlords renting to eligible voucher holders and provides funding for expenses including – but not limited to – damage-related costs, code-required improvements, vacancy loss and certain other tenant deposits and fees.

“This program is another way we can work together to provide safe, affordable housing for New Mexicans,” said Donna Maestas-De Vries, Housing New Mexico Chief Housing Officer. “We encourage landlords renting to housing voucher holders to take advantage of this funding opportunity.”

Eligible landlords are those renting to New Mexicans who have housing vouchers through programs such as Emergency Solutions Grant Rapid Rehousing and Homelessness Prevention, Linkages, Housing Choice Vouchers and other programs through which vouchers are issued at the federal, state or local level. Landlords may file claims up to a total of $12,500 per occupancy per unit.

A total of $800,000 is available for this program, and funding for allowable expenses will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until June 30, 2026, or until all funding has been expended, whichever comes first.

Landlords may learn more about the Statewide Landlord Incentive Program and view a list of allowable expenses by visiting the Housing New Mexico website.
