FNMA’s HomeView Homebuyer Education Certificates

As a reminder, all first-time homebuyers are required to complete a prepurchase HUD-approved homebuyer education (HBE) course to utilize MFA’s programs.

Since MFA’s Homeownership team has received numerous inquiries regarding the acceptance of Fannie Mae’s HomeView HBE course, we would like to emphasize that the HomeView HBE course is not currently approved by HUD and therefore does not meet MFA’s HBE requirements.

We encourage our partners to have prospective borrowers visit MFA’s website for an up-to-date list of HUD-approved HBE course providers. Borrowers can also complete a face-to-face course with any local HUD-approved housing counseling agency listed on the MFA website. Typically, there is no cost associated with face-to-face HBE courses, however, availability may vary.
